Overview

 The future of Public Health Conference, FPHC 2025 will bring together world leaders, health experts, policymakers, and industry stakeholders to address pressing challenges in Public Health, for Nigeria and indeed Africa. The Conference will focus on enhancing cooperation, improving health systems, and developing strategies to prevent, detect, and respond to urgent public health challenges & threats, including epidemics, digital disruptions and bioterrorism. 

Nigeria, a historical focal point of reference for emerging infectious diseases and other health threats; however, its strong partnerships and burgeoning infrastructure create unique strengths that can be leveraged to create a resilient health framework that will strength service delivery and manpower development through a synergistic approach. 

The powerful lessons from Ebola and the COVID-19 pandemic are generating growing interest in the private sector, and the Academia to take on more active role in public health (Coordination, Communication, Health System etc). We feel that, as a Country and health professionals we are poised to be global leaders through grassroots whole-of-community approach involvement of communicating and report public health threats. 

This prospectus outlines our inclusive approach to organizing the FPHC 2025, emphasizing the importance of collaboration, innovation, and commitment in addressing public health challenges. 

CONFERENCE OBJECTIVE 

1.     Foster public health discourse and increase public and policymakers understanding of public health needs, to act and build sustainable -resilient health systems. 

2.     Promote the exchange of context-specific public health solutions of service delivery disease prevention, disease control through facilitating the sharing of innovative solutions, cutting-edge research, and best practices among scientists, researchers, and health practitioners. 

3.     Amplify evidence of Public health impacts of climate change in Nigeria and the African continent, heralding local initiatives and context-specific research evidence to inform policy actions. 

CONFERENCE OUTCOMES 

1.     Increase Engagement: Scale up awareness on the need to improve public health practice and research outcomes in Nigeria  

2.     Policy Recommendations: Advocate actionable public health policies such as integrating public health to National Council on Climate Change (NCCC), and to include the academia and students in National Health strategic framework formulation conversations 

3.     Student Engagement: Scale-up capacity of young professionals with industry relevant soft skills through workshops, mentor mentee opportunities 

4.     Public and Stakeholder Awareness: Enhanced understanding of public health ecosystem 

5.     Collaboration and Partnership Building: Strengthen ties between the academia, government, NGOs and the civil societies and the private sector.

The 2024 conference marks the 10th Anniversary Edition, scheduled to take place on October 24, 2024. This year's theme is “From Evidence to Action: Building Resilience at the Climate-Health Nexus,” focusing on the intersection of climate change and health.

  • 1.Drive public discourse and increase public and policymaker understanding of the need to act and build climate-resilient health systems.

  • 2.Promote knowledge exchange by facilitating the sharing of cutting-edge research, best practices, and innovative solutions among scientists, researchers, and health practitioners at the frontlines of the climate and health intersection.

Increased Engagement: Raise awareness on the impact of climate change on health in Africa.
